Food tip of the Week: Never Pay For Onions Again: Grow Them Indoors

The trick is to take the cut end (root side) and plant it in a pot, water well, give it some time and voila! You have fresh (and free!) onions at your disposal. This will work for a variety of different onions and the beauty of this tip is that as you use the onions, you replant the cut root ends to grow more. You can use a tub just for onions and haul it indoors during winter months (will need lots of sun) or if it’s just green onions you’re interested in growing, a large flower pot will do.

Welcome to Home Cooking.

I wanted to start a blog where we can journey together in the world of cooking. Over the years I have met many women who do not know how to cook or choose not to. This is unfortunate because cooking can be such a great adventure. The pride of producing a dish that satisfies not only the palete but the soul is unmatched. Of course there are the moments of utter failure when you have produced something of less quality than you intended. But do not worry because all great journeys are filled with great achievment, grounded by moments of disappointment. Come join me as we begin this great expedition into the world of cooking.
